Bend-La Pine Schools in Bend, Oregon, have announced the finalists for the Educator of the Year and Support Staff Member of the Year awards for 2025. One of the finalists is Fred Kent, an IB biology and general biology teacher who also serves as a football coach at Bend Senior High School. Principal Chris Reese described Kent as an educator with a passion for creating an inclusive classroom where every student feels a sense of belonging. Reese noted that Kent shows respect for all students, a quality that is reciprocated by the students.
