Super Senior Series Day 2 Energizes Akron YMCA
Day 2 of the 2025 Super Senior Series took place at the Akron Area YMCA in Akron, Ohio. The event featured multiple activities, including a 1-mile run, a 1-mile walk, corn hole, euchre, rock, paper, scissors, ping pong, and a group dance competition. Results were announced for each activity.
In the 1-Mile Run for Men, Sonny Ritch from Green took first place, followed by John Maerean from Riverfront. In the Women’s 1-Mile Run, Edna Boyle from Lake Anna finished first, with Leovina Crittenden from Riverfront and Diane Rayckhorst from Wadsworth placing second and third, respectively.
During the 1-Mile Walk for Men, Doug Brand from Riverfront came in first, followed by Ron Wagner from Lake Anna and John Maerean from Riverfront in third place. For the Women's 1-Mile Walk, Lori Brown from Lake Anna was the winner, with Brenda Stivers-Chenault from Kohl and Beverly Houser from Green finishing second and third.
The corn hole competition was won by the team of Ron White and Tom Bailey from Wadsworth. The team of Leovina Crittenden and John Maerean from Riverfront secured second place, while the team of Carl and Valerie Edwards from Lake Anna finished third.
In the euchre event, Kathy Rood from Green claimed first place, Bob Phelps from Lake Anna came in second, and Carol Twiddy from Riverfront finished third. Karen Kendle from Green won the rock, paper, scissors competition, with Leovina Crittenden from Riverfront taking second and Martha Bender from Green placing third.
Joe Dudek from Green won the ping pong event, Bill Johnson from Riverfront finished second, and Ed Kunkel from Lake Anna came in third. In the group dance competition, teams were ranked with Kohl in first, Green in second, and Lake Anna in third.
The final team standings were as follows:
• Lake Anna – 1780 points
• Riverfront – 1470 points
• Green – 1160 points
• Wadsworth – 985 points
• Kohl – 580 points
• Firestone Park – 515 points
The event involved participants, volunteers, staff, and sponsors, with additional support from Ali Ziegler, who helped organize the day’s activities. Forty-eight new photos of the event were added by the Akron Area YMCA.
